TMPK demands poll date for Mising Autonomous Council

By Correspondent

SILAPATHAR, Jan 13 The Takan Mising Porin Kebang (TMPK) has demanded the State Government to declare the date of Mising Autonomous Council polls as early as possible, threatening otherwise to take up an agitational programme against the State Government.

In a press release issued by Silapathar TMPK president Raju Pegu and secretary Ranjit Pegu, Silapathar TMPK adopted six resolutions in a joint executive meeting of Silapathar TMPK and MMK at Arne Chapari LP School on January 5.

The release stated that the TMPK expresses grave concern over the State Governments negligent attitude towards the Lower Subansiri hydro electric project. If the Lower Subansiri hydro electric project is commissioned in Gerukamukh, then the history of the Assamese people including the Mising community will be lost.

The TMPK also demanded taking up of necessary measures on flood and erosion problem, proper distribution of public distribution system (PDS), land patta to the ethnic communities of Assam according to the Forest Right Law, 2005, to stop the irregularities in MGNREGA, IAY, PMGY schemes etc.
