DHEMAJI, Nov 29 - Mising Students Union, i.e., Takam Mising Porin Kebang (TMPK) has adopted 100 primary schools falling under different districts within the jurisdiction of Mising Autonomous Council (MAC) for phasewise development.
The TMPKs central committee president Raj Kumar Morang, who visited 13 primary schools located in backward areas of Dhemaji, Lakhimpur and Tinsukia districts subsequently attended an adoption ceremony. The union has already adopted four such schools in Jonai Block in Dhemaji district.
Morang said the TMPK functionaries met teachers, staff and local villagers of the adopted schools, took stock of the infrastructure development and other requirements.
The TMPK president, who attended the adoption ceremony at Rayang Kuli LP School in Dhemaji district recently, said the decision was made by his union during TMPKs 15th bi-ennial general conference conducted at Silapathar last year.
He informed that the chief of Mising Council has assured them of financial support for phasewise development of the underdeveloped primary schools adopted by the union.
Morang and his colleagues during the adoption ceremony asked school teachers and local villagers to work with closer coordination. They also appealed to the parents to guide their wards in the right way and make them human resources.
The TMPK with its head office at Gogamukh in Dhemaji district has observed its golden jubilee foundation day on October 16 last. The leaders demanded the government to include MAC under Sixth Schedule of the Constitution of India.
Notably, under the influence of political movements, the TMPK and its allies could not oversee issues of socio-economic and educational development of the ethnic tribe over the decades. It said that the union is paying attention on the education sector and adoption policies for development of primary education in Mising populated areas, thereby spreading a ray of hope among the dejected Mising people.
