Tiwa Autonomous Council poll today

MORIGAON, Dec 16 - Around 1.43 lakh voters will exercise their franchise in tomorrow�s Tiwa Autonomous Council (TAC) polls in 18 constituencies of Morigaon district, said Morigaon Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Leena Das today.

Addressing a press meet, the DC said that of total 19 TAC seats in the district, BJP candidate Moni Ram Pator has already been declared elected unopposed in No 14 Gobha seat.

Altogether 187 polling stations in the district have been readied for voting tomorrow and voters are requested to maintain the COVID-19 protocols while casting their votes.

The polling will start at 7.30 am and end at 4.30 pm, the DC said. In the law and order front, Morigaon SP, Dr Nanda Sing Borkola informed that of 187 polling stations, 119 have been earmarked as sensitive.

He said five companies of paramilitary forces have been detailed in the district to ensure free and fair voting in the district.
