Tiwa Autonomous Council implements 249 schemes

By CORRESPONDENT

MORIGAON, June 6 - The Tiwa Autonomous Council (TAC) has implemented a total of 249 development schemes during 2017-18 financial year in several areas of Morigaon, Nagaon and Kamrup (M) districts, thereby uplifting the economic condition of people living below the poverty line.

Addressing a press conference here, Paban Manta, Chief Executive Member of TAC, said that the pro-people Council has adopted a number of measures to develop the Council areas during the aforementioned tenure and there was no corruption during implementation of the schemes.

Refuting the allegations raised by Baluram Bordoloi, Member of TAC that approximately Rs 1 crore was misappropriated during implementation of schemes No.103 and No. 125 of TAC, Paban Manta said that the amount is still intact and there was no withdrawal of money in this regard.

In connection with the allegations about the 22 schemes which were not in the action plan of TAC, the CEM said that it was baseless. The CEM of TAC further said that the BJP-led Council had no record of corruption during the last financial year and those who raised the allegation must come forward to face enquiry into the huge anomalies that took place from 2007 to 2012.

Manta said that a section of the Council members with an ulterior political motive had launched a false propaganda against the functioning of TAC.
