Tirap SP transferred for manhandling BJP leader

By Correspondent

ITANAGAR, May 18 - Deputy Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Kameng Dolo, who also holds the Home portfolio, has ordered transfer of Tirap SP Jasmeet Singh for allegedly manhandling an executive member of Tirap district BJP, Lainkham Wangsu on Monday.

Informing this to a team of State BJP leaders, who called on him here on Tuesday, Dolo regretted the incident and said that it was unbecoming and unwarranted act on the part of the lawkeeper.

Urging the men in uniform to deal public issues and grievances with a humane touch, Dolo informed the BJP delegation that the State Government is very concerned about peoples security and safety, which would not be allowed to be compromised at any cost. He said, there will be no excuse whatsoever for police violence.

It is the duty of the police to protect and serve all the people as well as to ensure the equal application of the rule of law and the respect for the human rights of all citizens, said Dolo. Without this, there can be no true democracy, he added.

Earlier, the BJP in its complaint demanded immediate suspension of the SP and necessary administrative action against him. The party informed the Dy CM that Wangsu was manhandled by the SP without any provocation at his office chamber. Wangsu had reportedly received grievous injuries on his head and other parts of his body.
