Tinsukia to host Santosh Trophy matches

TINSUKIA, April 28 � The Cluster VI league matches of 65th National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy 2010-2011 will be held at the Tinsukia District Sports Association (TDSA) ground on May 7, 9 and 11.

Four teams namely Jammu and Kashmir, Chandigarh, Jharkhand and Kerala will vie in the cluster IV for top slot. Two matches will be held every day on the scheduled dates.

On May 7 Kerala will take on J&K while Jharkhand is scheduled to lock horns with Chandigarh in the second match of the day. Accordingly, on May 9 J&K will play against Jharkhand in the first encounter while Chandigarh will be pitted against Kerala in the second match of the day.

On May 11 the last league matches of this group will be played between J&K and Chandigarh while Kerala will meet Jharkhand.

Addressing a press meet here today, the president and general secretary of TDSA, Dr Brojen Gohain and Dr Achyut Barthakur respectively said to promote and popularize the game of football in this region, they have decided to give free entry for spectators.

The press meet was also addressed by Juga Dutta, vice president, TDSA and Member governing body, Assam Football Association. The other preliminary cluster league matches will be organised by Guwahati, Mangaldoi, Sivasagar, Kokrajhar, Sivasagar and Bongaigaon. The final phase of the meet will be held in Guwahati.
