Tinsukia students shine in HS exam

DOOMDOOMA, June 26 - Three students from Tinsukia district were among the toppers of the state in the Higher Secondary final examination.

In Arts stream, Moumita Konwar of Borhapjan secured the 3rd position with 94.6 per cent marks. She appeared from RD Junior College, Digboi, and scored 97 in English, 93 in Alternative English, 94 in Political Science, 93 in Education and 96 in Logic & Philosophy.

The eldest of two daughters of Bimal Konwar and Yami Konwar, Moumita wishes to study at Tezpur University with honours in English, and later wishes to become a good professor of English.

In Commerce stream, Rohit Agarwal � the son of Subhash Agarwal and Laxmi Agarwal of Margherita Balukhad � secured the 7th position with 90.8 per cent. He scored 454 marks, with 88 in English, 88 in Alternative English, 93 in Accountancy, 96 in Business Studies and 89 in Economics. He also appeared from RD Junior College, Digboi.

In Arts stream, Anashree Mahanta of Talap secured the 7th position with 93.8 per cent marks. She appeared from Salt Brook Academy, Dibrugarh, and scored 469 marks. The daughter of Kamal Mahanta, Anashree wishes to become a civil servant. She wants to pursue her higher studies from Delhi University.

The pass percentage of Tinsukia district in the HS examination was 78.72 per cent in Arts, 80.91 per cent in Science and 78.09 per cent in Commerce. All Moran Students� Union president Arunjyoti Moran congratulated the rank holders from Tinsukia district and all those who passed the examination.
