Tinsukia scribe body�s meet held

DOOMDOOMA, June 26 - The mid-term general body meeting of Tinsukia District Journalists� Association (TDJA) was held at Kakopothar Public Library on Saturday under the auspices of Kakopothar Press Club (KPC).

The programmes for the day began with hoisting of TDJA and KPC flags by presidents of the TDJA and KPC Anuj Kalita and Parag Bhuyan respectively. The acting secretary of TDJA Manoranjan Moran and KPC secretary Dipen Lahkar initiated the smriti tarpan. Plantation of tree saplings was started by senior journalist of the district Arjun Baruah, the principal of Kakopothar HS School Deepika Hatibaruah and journalist Ram Prasad Ambedkar.

The general body meeting of TDJA was held in the afternoon which was chaired by TDJA president Anuj Kalita. The meeting was inaugurated by the former president of Tinsukia district unit of Asam Sahitya Sabha Surendra Nath Dohutia. In his inaugural speech, Dahutia urged the scribes to play a positive role in uplift of the society.

The members of Tinsukia, Digboi, Margherita, Doomdooma, Saikhowa, Sadiya and Kakopothar Press Clubs were present in the meeting and they stressed on unity and coordination between TDJA and press clubs of the district.
