Tinsukia fair price dealers stage dharna

TINSUKIA, May 4 - Members of the Tinsukia District Fair Price Dealers/Agents� Association staged a dharna for their eight-point charter of demands in front of the Deputy Commissioner�s office here on Tuesday.

Their demands include the payments of unpaid commissions of Rs 143 per quintal for distribution of materials under the National Food Security (NFS) Acts for the last five months, to upgrade all the fair shops to �Aamar Dukan� for infrastructure development, for speedy completion of ration cards under NFS Act, to distribute kerosene and rice to the people who are not covered by NFS Act, to pay all the arrears to be paid for transportation for distribution of materials under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY), Mid-day Meal Scheme etc.

They also demanded that the materials for the first three months this year for the people of Sadiya subdivision should be distributed through the fair price dealers, agents at the earliest. Protesters have submitted a memorandum in this regard to the Deputy Commissioner.
