Tinsukia ACMS stages dharna

TINSUKIA, Nov 2 � The Panitola branch of the Asom Chah Mazdoor Sangha (ACMS) staged a one-hour dharna programme in front of the Panitola Tea Estate Factory, Panitola on October 31 in support of its various demands.

Their list of demand include arrest of the actual killers of CPI-ML leader, Gangaram Kol who was killed on March 25 last year in the tea estate and to stop harassment of the ACMS members. The other demands of the sangha were to introduce individual electric meters instead of the present cluster meter system in the tea workers homes, to allot the ceiling surplus land with myadi patta, to provide proper houses, potable water and sanitation system to the tea workers etc.

The dharna was led by the president of the branch, Raju Sahu, Parliamentary Secretary and MLA Chabua, Government of Assam and other office bearers of the branch. Later, the protesters submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister through the manager of the tea garden.
