Timber worth Rs 5 lakh seized in Dhubri

GOLAKGANJ, June 15 � The Dhubri Forest Division on Sunday seized a truck loaded with Sengun timber worth Rs five lakh from Chagalia in Dhubri district where illegal timber operation is prevalent. Acting on a tip-off, the officers and staff of Dhubri Forest Division, led by Forest Officer Raghabendra Barman along with staffs of the Forest Protection Force, stopped the timber-laden truck during routine patrolling conducted on Sunday near Chagalia along NH-31, sources said. However, the driver and handyman of the vehicle managed to escape and the owner of the vehicle is yet to be known. The truck (UP 37,T-2076) has been seized.
