Tihu Barowary Durga Puja from today

TIHU, Sept 30 - The 113th Tihu Barowary Sri Sri Durga Puja will get under way with an 11-day colourful programme at the Sri Sri Durgamandir premises from tomorrow.

The inaugural meeting at 5.30 pm will be attended by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, as chief guest while Dr Bhumidhar Barman, ex-minister, Chandramohan Patowary, Transport and Industry Minister, Atul Bora, Agriculture Minister, Maneswar Brahma, MLA, Barama LAC and Khagen Sarma, ex-DGP, Assam will attend the metting as distinguished guests and Dr Dhrubajyoti Bora, president, Asam Sahitya Sabha will attend as the guest of honour.

The other programmes of the first day include flag hoisting, smriti tarpan, banti prajjalan, laying of foundation stone of permanent gate, cultural procession etc. The programmes of the remaining days include felicitation, recitation, dance competition, naam competition, and a seminar which will be attended by Dr Mukunda Sarma, Narayan Ch Goswami and Ananta Mohan Sarma. On October 6 at 7-30 pm, Sahityacharjya Dr Ramesh Pathak will release the souvenir to be published on this occasion.

The cultural nite will be attended by Dr Anima Choudhury, Debajit, Bollywood singer Vinod Rathore and Chandni Mukherjee on October 8 and October 10 repectively.

On October 11, �Ravan Dahan� programme at Tihu High School playground will be formally inaugurated by Anantalal Gyani, DC, Nalbari.
