Tight security at Jorabat

By CORRESPONDENT

JORABAT, May 3 - In view of the opening of inter-state borders of Assam with the other northeastern states today, the Assam Police has tightened security at the inter-state border checkpoint here and police and medical surveillance teams have also been deployed in the area.

The teams are screening and maintaining data of every person coming from the neighbouring states, while also urging the people to adhere to the lockdown guidelines and to maintain social distancing to break the novel coronavirus chain, said a police official from the Jorabat police outpost.

A total of 33 persons have come back to their home state Assam from Meghalaya through Jorabat checkpost today. The majority of the people who entered the State through Jorabat today were the labourers, who came on foot from Byrnihat and the nearby areas.
