Tickets issued for non-available train!

By City Correspondent

GUWAHATI, Sept 1 - The IRCTC issued tickets for the Guwahati-Jorhat-Guwahati Janshatabdi Express on the date when the train was not available.

The Railways resumed the Guwahati-Jorhat-Guwahati Janshatabdi Express from August 17, five days in a week from Monday to Friday.

A passenger booked two tickets after the website of IRCTC showed availability of the train on August 29, which was Saturday.

A source in the NFR claimed that booking of train tickets for Saturdays and Sundays for Janshatabdi Express through IRCTC is not available.

I booked two tickets through the IRCTC website for August 29 as it showed availability of the train for the same date. I booked the tickets two days before my journey from Furkating to Guwahati and also got the confirmation status. The very next day after the booking, I came across information from my relatives that the train only runs from Monday to Friday, the passenger said.

When I contacted the customer care, they informed me that they would refund me. Though I cancelled one of the tickets, the refund has not yet been issued. If the train was not available on that date, then there was no point of showing the availability of the train and also confirming the tickets. It is nothing but cheating in the real sense, he alleged.
