Three of a family killed in mishap

SILCHAR, Sept 18 - Three persons, including a woman of a family died after an autorickshaw in which they were travelling collided with the Guwahati-Silchar passenger train near Srikona on Sunday.

According to sources at the Silchar Railway station, the autorikshaw tried to cross the railway track which had no crossing when the 55615 Guwahati-Silchar passenger train which was going towards Silchar hit the autorickshaw killing the passengers and the driver. The engine of the train sustained partial damage.

The deceased have been identified as Babu Sinha (60), his wife Ratna Sinha (52) and his brother Buddhi Sinha (51), the auto-rickshaw driver. It is learnt that the victims were residents of nearby Burikhal village. Meanwhile, soon after the incident, GRP officials rushed to the spot to recover the bodies and sent them to SMCH for post mortem.
