Three of 11-member UP team in Nalbari test negative

NALBARI, April 2 - Three of the 11-member Jamaat team who came from Shambli district in Uttar Pradesh after the congregation at Nizamuddin and took shelter at Mollapara in Nalbari district today tested negative. One of the team members � Arshad Ali (19) had tested positive yesterday. He was shifted to GMCH last night for COVID-19 treatment. The results of the other seven team members are awaited.

Deputy Commissioner of Nalbari Bharat Bhusan Dev Choudhury said that following the detection of the positive case, the district administration picked up 37 persons so far who were in contact with the Jamaat team and admitted them at the isolation ward of Nalbari Swahid Mukunda Kakati Civil Hospital. All the 37 persons will be shifted to Sarusajai quarantine camp, the DC added.

He further stated that the entire Mollapara area where the 11 persons were taking shelter since March 21 has been sealed and 11 more persons, who came in touch with the Jamaat team, were brought to the isolation ward of the hospital. He also clarified that out of 37 persons, 24 are somehow directly related to the Nizamuddin Dargah case. A total of 29 people visited the dargah from Nalbari district and five of them are yet to return.

It may be mentioned here that the 11-member team from Uttar Pradesh arrived at the district to visit various mosques of the district for religious purposes.
