Three Nizamuddin returnees test negative at Udalguri

KALAIGAON, April 1 - Much to the relief of the Udalguri district administration and the people of Udalguri district, the test results of three persons returning from a religious ceremony at Nizamuddin in New Delhi have turned out to be negative. The news of the return of several people from Nizamuddin to Udalguri district had created panic in the district yesterday.

According to information available, so far five persons from Udalguri are known to have attended the markaz religious ceremony at Nizamuddin in New Delhi. Three of them had returned to their houses at Rowta recently. Two others are still in Delhi. Although the test results of the three persons was found to be negative, they have been quarantined by the administration.

On the other hand, it is known that several persons from Kalaigaon too attended the markaz programme in Delhi. Biraj Kumar Barua, Circle Officer, Kalaigaon Revenue Circle informed this correspondent that the administration had taken all necessary steps to identify the infected people. He further said that administration had requisitioned Kalaigaon College premises to be used as a quarantine centre with 40 beds. At Kalaigaon, running of several rice mills even after declaration of lockdown has confused the common people.
