Three Mizo women boxers felicitated

AIZAWL, Sept 6 - Mizoram Sports and Youth Services Minister Robert Romawia Royte today felicitated three Mizoram women boxers � Vanlalduati, Lalbuatsaihi and Lalfakmawii Ralte at his office. The trio won medals at the World Police and Fire Games held at Chengdu in China from August 9 to 18.

Congratulating the trio, Royte remarked that their success was not a small feat and their efforts were commendable. He said that the trio was lucky as they will now be counted amongst the few Mizos who have won medals in an international event. On the occasion he reiterated the government�s commitment in developing sports in the state in a professional manner. He also remarked that Mizoram is planning to bid for hosting the National Games in 2024.

Vanlalduati of Border Security Force (BSF) won gold medal in the 51kg category; Lalbuatsaihi of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) won gold medal in 64kg category while Lalfakmawii Ralte, also of SSB won silver medal in the 81kg category.

India�s medal tally at the Games stood at 286 with 139 gold, 81 silver and 66 bronze medals. The biennial event this year drew more than 8000 athletes from 79 nations.
