Three missing cases in as many months

By Staff reporter

GUWAHATI, Oct 14 Sensation has gripped Rehabari area of the city after three persons residing in the same by-lane went missing one after another in the span of three months.

Surprisingly, police have remained clueless about the whereabouts of the missing persons. All the cases were reported under Paltan Bazar police station.

The first to disappear was Dr Trilokya Nath Choudhury, a physician by profession, who was reported missing on July 22, followed by Sadhana Gupta (August 23), housewife and then Bishnu Sarma, who was associated with the Hindustan Lever group.

Residents of the lane, located opposite to the office of NE Television, however, alleged that had the cases been investigated properly, police could have succeeded in tracking the missing persons.

We are really worried about the safety and security issue, especially of children. A fear psychosis has gripped everyone, said a senior citizen of the area requesting anonymity. Another resident of the area has blamed the lackadaisical approach of the police for such a situation.

How can three persons go missing in the span of three months from the same area with police having no clue about them at all, Ramesh Sarma (name changed) rued.

I wonder if all the three cases are linked to each other. Family members of the victims are undergoing a harrowing time. We want the police to expedite the investigation, Sarma asserted.

Asked, police said that the cases are being investigated but refuse to divulge whether all the three cases were interlinked.

We are doing our best with whatever limited resources we have at our disposal, a police official said.

Yes, it is strange that all the three were residents of the same area and went missing under similar circumstances. We have gathered some feeds and are working on them, he said.
