UDALGURI, July 27 - The court of Nirmali Talukdar, Additional District & Sessions Judge, Udalguri sentenced three members of a family to rigorous life imprisonment on Wednesday. The trio Gyanendra Das, Chintarani Das and Utpal Das were accused in a murder case vide Kalaigaon PS case no.23/2012 under sections 341/302/34 of IPC.
Reportedly, on the evening of March 18, 2012 one Sailendra Das was on his way back to home on his bicycle when he was accosted by a group of unruly people armed with sticks and sharp weapons and was brutally attacked, He later succumbed to his injuries at Mangaldai Civil Hospital. Based on an FIR filed by the brother of deceased, the police registered a case and swung into investigation and arrested the three members of a family.
After a six-year-long trial, the trio were convicted.
