In a major accident, at least three persons died on the spot and one sustained serious injury after a cement carrying truck hit a culvert and slid into a waterbody at Kunagram on the Patharkandi bypass.
OC Patharkandi Sanjib Terang informed that as per preliminary investigation, the truck was onwards to Agartala when the mishap happened near a culvert on the bypass at around 11 pm.
"We could recover two bodies from a nearby water-body with the help of SDRF team while locals of the vicinity assisted in recovering another body and sending the injured person identified as Dilip Baidya to the local hospital. He has been referred to Karimganj Civil Hospital for further treatment. The deceased persons have been identified as Nripendra Sabdakar, Rabindra Sabdakar and Bikram Deb," the OC informed.
