Three-day drama fest from today

GUWAHATI, Oct 2 - Theatre lovers of Guwahati will get a treat of an assorted drama festival organised by the Assam Sanskritik Nyas to commemorate completion of 11th year of the Pragjyoti Cultural Complex. The three-day event to be held on October 3, 4 and 8, will present Assamese and Hindi plays, besides plays in the Ankiya Bhaona format.

Addressing the media here, Kirti Kamal Bhuyan, president of the cultural sub-committee of the trust said that the plays have been carefully chosen to cater to a wider audience.

Professor Kelphas Factory, a play inspired by the life and works of legendary Dada Saheb Phalke, will be staged by Mancha Sarupeta on the first day of the event. The play has been written and directed by Rong Hang Choudhury.

On the second day, an Ankiya Bhaona Ram Bijoy, will be staged by Golaghat Amateur Theatre Society. The play has been directed by Ghanakanta Saikia.

On the third day, two Hindi plays will be staged. Divakar Ki Gatha, will be staged by Jagmira group of Mumbai. Rabindranath Tagore�s Streer Patra will be staged in Hindi by Jagmira under the direction of noted actress Seema Biswas, who will also act in the play.
