Three-day Biswanath Festival from tomorrow

BISWANATH CHARIALI, Dec 25 - Brisk preparations are under way for organising the 4th edition of the three-day Biswanath Festival to be held from December 27 at the Kamalakanta Kshetra at Tinisuti of Biswanath Ghat and Gangmou Thaan at Borgang.

A strong organising committee was formed in this connection with Biswanath SP Manavendra Devroy as patron, SDO (C) Pallav Gopal Jha as president and Circle Officer Sanjiv Dalai as general secretary.

The three-day programme includes flag hoisting by the president, cultural procession to be inaugurated by eminent film personality Nipon Goswami, seminar to be addressed by prominent writer-thinker Mayur Borah, exhibition, adventure tour (elephant safari) to Behali Reserve Forest, cleanliness and plantation drive, souvenir release, various competitions, beach volleyball and open session.

Several dignitaries, including Additional Chief Secretary, Home and Political Department, MGVK Bhanu, Commissioner of Guwahati Municipal Corporation, Narayan Konwar, Commissioner and Special Secretary, PWD (Roads) Mohan Chandra Bodo, eminent poet Jnan Pujari, renowned litterateur Dr Puspa Gogoi, besides Angarag (Papon) Mahanta etc are likely to take part in the festival, which will showcase the history and cultural life of the masses of Biswanath. The festival also aims to promote the eco and cultural tourism potential of �Gupta Kashi�.
