Three arrested for jehadi links

By Correspondent

BARPETA, Oct 3 - The Barpeta Police has arrested three persons, including two teachers and the fake father of JMB mastermind Jahirul alias Jeherul alias Jabirul, who was arrested by West Bengal Police and have unearthed some vital information regarding the ongoing subversive activities in the State. This was informed by the Superintendent of Police, Barpeta Siladitya Setia on Sunday afternoon. With the arrest of these three, more links to Jehadi activities have been unearthed.

With the arrest of Abdus Sattar Mia alias Sattar Moulavi, Khalilur Rahman and Kazimddin, it came to light a few days back that Jabirul had enrolled his name in the voters list of Sarukshetri Assembly constituency in Barpeta district in 2013 and 2014, acquired a school certificate and even vital documents like PAN. Jahirul went underground in the last part of 2014 when the NIA began to search him after the arrest of Sahnur Alam, the JMB mastermind in Assam. The first two persons are teachers and the second one is the BLO of Chaparbari Polling Station while the third one is the impersonated father of the most wanted JMB activist. Meanwhile, all the three were produced before the judicial magistrate, who remanded them to police custody for one week.

According to information received through reliable sources, Jahirul entered India in early 2013 and was harboured by Sattar Moulavi. Moulavi helped Jahirul to get a school certificate from Fingua Anchalik Pre senior Madrassa, which was used as the basic documents to avail other benefits illegally. He was enrolled in the voter list by impersonating Kazimuddin as his father. But Kazimuddin has no such son as the investigation revealed. This controversial certificate was allegedly signed by one Israful Ali as headmaster and dated as 31-12-2000. Interestingly, Israful was not the headmaster of that school at that time and is accused of several irregularities. He is now absconding to avoid arrest.

All the accused have confessed to their involvement in committing the crime and police have also gathered sufficient proof against them and some others which they did not want to divulge in the interest of fair investigation into the crime. But it is a matter of grave concern that the civil administration including the officers involved in the preparation of electoral roll are silent about the development. The incident of the enrolment in the voters list came to the forefront a few days back. But no officer has even lodged an FIR till now.

The involvement of government employees in abetting subversive activities in the country and the indifference of the concerned officials have raised questions about their credibility.
