NALBARI, Oct 8 - Thousands of people thronged the Sahpur-Rajghat of Buhradia river near Chamata in Nalbari district to witness the immersion of the idols of Goddess Durga this afternoon. A good number of puja committees of the Paschim Nalbari area brought their idols to Sahpur Rajghat. Thousands of devotees gathered at Sondha ghat of the Pagladia river and Bijulighat of the same river in the district and bade farewell to Devi Durga. The immersion of Devi Durga idols at Tihu town also drew huge crowds this evening.
Earlier, the clay models of the Devi were brought to the rivers in a colourful procession from the puja mandaps. At Sahpur-Rajghat, the Dharmapur Gyandayinee Durga Puja Samiti also performed Ravan Dahan burning a 30-feet high Ravan effigy.
