NALBARI, Sept 16 - In response to the call given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to observe September as Poshan Month with a vision to address malnutrition with a targeted approach by 2022, the Nalbari district administration today took out a massive rally at Nalbari town. Nearly 3000 women, especially ASHA workers, anganwadi worker, school students among others participated in the rally taken out from Gurdon School playground and flagged off by Social Welfare Minister Pramila Rani Brahma.
MP of Mangaldai HPC Dilip Saikia and MLA of Nalbari LAC Ashok Sarma also attended the rally. After the rally, an awareness meeting was also held at Nalbari Natya Mandir. In the meeting, Minister Pramila Rani Brahma inaugurated the Swachh Survekshan Gramin 2019 scheme. In her speech Brahma said that pregnant women and children should be provided nutritious food for the betterment of the country. Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Bharat Bhuasan Dev Choudhury while explaining the objective of the meeting said that at present the Government is enforcing the act on the necessity of nutritious food for the healthy life of children and women. The meeting was conducted by Simanta Kumar Deka, District Elementary Education Officer.
