By Correspondent

JORHAT, March 10 - Thousands of members and supporters of the Jorhat Benagli Samaj Kalyan Samiti, Bengali Yuba Chatra Federation, Jorhat Zila Sahitya Sabha, Purona Balibat Mazjid Samiti, AJYCP, AATSA, TMPK, AATASU and other organisations today joined the gana satyagrah rally which was taken out by the district unit of All Assam Students Union (AASU) here demanding arrest of all the persons involved in the recent act of vandalism at the AASU office in Silapathar.

Besides, the protesting members also demanded implementation of all provisions of the Assam Accord, including the section on detection and deportation of all illegal migrants from every nook and corner of the State without favouring any particular religion.

The government must detect and deport all the illegal migrants from our State, irrespective of their religion. Assam cannot be a dumping ground for illegal migrants of any religion, said Jorhat AASU office-bearer Jul Khaund.

He said the State government should not make any further delay to arrest the main accused Subodh Biswas, who allegedly incited the mob to vandalise the AASU office in Silapathar recently only to gain the sympathy from some illegal migrants of neighbouring Bangladesh taking shelter in certain pockets of the State.

Representatives of many Bengali organisations also demanded immediate arrest of the main accused of the crime as he had apparently spread hatred among the people of different linguistic and religious communities in Silapathar.

They also appealed the government neither to let off nor to allow any evil force to spread hatred among the people of different communities who have been leaving in the State in peace and harmony for decades.
