DIBRUGARH, May 14 - Taking serious note of the recently unearthed large-scale forgery in land sale permission here in which five including a prominent tea planter were arrested, the Greater Dibrugarh Nagarik Sabha has called upon the Deputy Commissioner to quash all �sale deeds� and �conveyance deeds� that have been found unlawful and which were registered in connection with lands belonging to Tea Periodic (TP) patta.
The Sabha has demanded proper investigation of all �sale deeds� and �conveyance deeds� executed or registered by accused Mrigendra Jalan or any other member, director, trustee, associate or agent of Jalan Group of Industries in connection with lands belonging to TP patta as well as the related permissions of NOC for such land in the last ten years.
In a memorandum submitted to the DC here, the Sabha has also sought investigations into all permissions, NOC, deeds, registration and transactions etc., entered into by any parties in connection with TP patta land since the last ten years. Ramesh Saikia, general secretary, Greater Dibrugarh Nagarik Sabha has stated, quoting government order (No.RSS.391/99/47, dated Dispur, the 11th September, 2k), that land for tea cultivation is given for specific purpose i.e., cultivation of tea. After getting the land, if one does not want to cultivate tea in that area, the land should be returned to the government. Land once allotted to one party for tea cultivation cannot be allowed to be transferred to any other party and for any other purpose without government�s prior approval.
