BARPETA, May 24 � The third round of training on updation of National Register for Citizens (NRC) concluded in the District Library auditorium here on Friday. In this stage of the training, the officers were imparted training on distribution and acceptance of forms after filling up.
Deputy Commissioner Varnali Deka alerted the officials about the enhanced duties and responsibilities now onwards as they will directly face the public now. She requested all the employees engaged in the process to perform their duties from supplying of legacy data till acceptance of the filled-up forms sincerely and to keep strict vigil so that no incident of ill treatment to people is meted. Warning stern action against dereliction of duty, the Deputy Commissioner informed that a few employees with such complaints have been issued show-cause notices. She also requested all concerned to cooperate with the district administration so that the massive exercise can be completed in time in the district.
District Election Officer Hemanta Bhuyan narrated at length about every step regarding the distribution and submission of forms. He informed that more than five lakhs people have reported in the 178 NRC Sewa Kendras in the district and 98 per cent of them have collected legacy data which is highest in the State.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Ramendra Nath Sarma also addressed the training session. Additional Deputy Commissioner Babul Sahariya, circle officers, block development officers, secretaries of gaon panchayats and several other officers engaged in NRC updation attended the training session.
