NAGAON, May 31 - Police personnel of the Bebejia Police Outpost last night arrested a gang of thieves comprising five members from Ghanhi village in Nagaon. Police seized a Mahindra pickup van (AS02 BC 9439) loaded with rod, cement and sand from its possession.

The nabbed thieves have been identified as Rokibul Hussain, Jomir Ahmed, Abdul Barik, Ismail Hussain and Khairul Islam. The sources said that the gang stole those rods, cement and sand from the house of one Chandan Singh of Bebejia Demou area and it was being carried in the van on Ghanhi-Borkula road towards Kampur.

Rs 6 lakh snatched: Two motorcycle-borne miscreants today again snatched Rs 6 lakh from one person in front of the Nagaon circuit house. Shahnaj Jafar of Puranigudam area drew the money from Nagaon SBI branch and was on way to Dhaccapatty market through a short cut, for shopping, when the miscreants snatched his bag and fled away.
