Thermos flask triggers bomb scare in Imphal

By Newmai News

IMPHAL, Nov 10 - A bomb hoax prompted the police to close down a busy road in Imphal today.

Some on-duty police personnel sounded an alert after they found an unattended thermo flask on the median of the NH-2 in front of the western gate of Kangla Fort around 11 am.

Soon after, the police closed the vehicular traffic on that stretch of the road as a precautionary measure before calling experts from the bomb detection and disposal squad of the State police.

After examination, the bomb experts announced that no explosive substance was found in the thermo flask and the road was finally opened to traffic at around noon.

Two days ago a similar incident had happened in Imphals Palace Compound.

Security has been tightened in and around Imphal after six policemen were injured in a powerful blast triggered by suspected militants at Thengal Bazar area of the State capital on November 5.
