DERGAON, Feb 22 - The theme song of the world heritage site Kaziranga National Park (KNP) was launched by Assam Water Resource, Science & Technology and Information Technology Minister Keshab Mahanta on Friday.
The song Kaziranga Kaziranga, Jeniai sau monomoha, nana jiba janture bhora, ai kaziranga composed and sung by Mridusmita Gogoi and a production of KNP and sponsored by Assam State Biodiversity Board (ASBB) was launched by the minister at a function held at Kohora. The song was recorded in different locations of KNP.
Launching the song, the minister said that the song would be a good vehicle to make the people more alert on conservation of Kaziranga through music. The song was also released for the people through YouTube.
The minister also gave away certificates to the participants of the three-day-long 13th Nature�s Orientation Initiative held on February 19-21 at Kaziranga under the aegis of KNP in association with several organisations working for environmental conservation. In the residential camp organised to sensitise the students of the fringe villages, a total of 37 students of class eight and nine from 29 fringe villages of Kaziranga took part.
In the camp, the participant students were taught several key issues of wildlife conservation through field visits and activities.
Through the song Mridusmita covered all the key potential of the flora and fauna of the park which will be an instrumental for any awareness programme for conservation approach.
A student of eleventh class at Kaziranga College, Mridusmita hails from Sepenakubua, a fringe village of Kaziranga. Born to Dipal Gogoi, a petty businessman and Anjali Gogoi a housewife, she is keenly interested in biodiversity conservation. For her dedication and interest she was declared as the Brand Ambassador of ASBB in 2019. She also took part in the camp held in 2019.
The KNP Director P Sivakumar said that the song sung by Mridusmita would be the theme song of KNP.
�The song which depicts all the major parts of KNP will be good instrument to use for awareness programme. It will attract the people towards the conservation of Kaziranga�, he said.
