JALUKBARI, Oct 6 - The Somnath Temple, located near Tetelia, Jalukbari, was looted by unknown miscreants in the wee hours today.
The thieves decamped with over Rs 10,000 from the donation box of the temple. They also broke the locker and took away gold worth around Rs 15,000 and cash amounting to about Rs 1.20 lakh, said the temple authorities.
The temple authorities added that there was no security in and around the temple when the incident took place. No CCTV camera has been installed at the temple, which is one of the most prominent places of worship in the city. This is the first instance that it has been looted. No FIR was lodged by the temple authorities at the Jalukbari Police Outpost till the filing of this report.
