Theatre group to extend activities

GUWAHATI, May 20 � Having successfully staged internationally acclaimed Croatian playwright Miro Gavran�s play All About Women in its adapted version titled Ah! Women...! at the Rabindra Bhawan here, theatre group The Passion Collective decided to extend its scope of activities in a meeting recently, a press release received via e-mail stated.

The group head and director of the play, Sattyakee D�com Bhuyan, in his speech, announced that the play would travel to many clubs in the Upper Assam tea and oil circuits and then to New Delhi and Mumbai.

Noted novelist, author and columnist Mitra Phukan was the guest of honour on the occasion and in her speech, she applauded the attempts of the group in their efforts at bringing the globally successful plays to the local stage. She also extolled the virtues of spreading theatrical awareness in the society and noted that the efforts of the group had successfully created a niche audience in Guwahati who have a keen interest in watching English theatre.

Film and theatre critic Swapnil Bharali moderated the discussion where each artist and crew member spoke of their experience in enacting the play on the stage, the release added.
