GUWAHATI, Sept 23 - Oscar nominee Rima Das visited Royal Global University here today for an interactive session with the students on the changing trends and the future of films. On the occasion she was felicitated by RGU Vice Chancellor Prof SP Singh, Registrar Angira Mimani and Florence Handique Rabha, head, Royal School of Communication and Media, according to a press statement.
In the brief interactive session Rima Das gave a lucid description of her passion for world cinema and film making, as she grew up in a society of film watching more than film making and hence, making it a more challenging experience for her. She believes that whatever resides within oneself is what reflects in ones work, her films being no exception.
She said she had planned Village Rockstar to cater to the international audience and not as a conventional commercial movie. India needs to grow in the areas of film education, adding that she aims to change society by influencing the Indian youths to make films and understand the underlying power of art.
Rima came to the limelight when her film Village Rockstar was nominated for the Oscar. Since then there has been no looking back. Her Bulbul Can Sing now enters another league of being a film with a difference.
