GUWAHATI, Jan 20 - Preparation are on for holding the 7th TG Baruah Memorial Youth Cup State Karate Championship which is scheduled to be held from 9 to 11 February at the Tarun Ram Phookan Indoor Stadium in the RG Baruah Sports Complex here.

The championship is being organised by the United Karate-Do Association, Assam UKAA) in Association with the Assam Tribune Group of Publications.

An organising committee has been formed for the smooth conduction of the championship led by noted sports organiser Premadhar Sharma as the chief adviser, Bhuban Lahkar as chairman, Nagen Bongjang as secretary and Bipul Kumar Sarma as finance secretary in a special general meeting held yesterday evening at the Assam Olympic Association�s conference hall.

The meeting was attended by Ashim Kumar Deka from Assam Tribune Group of Publications, Bhuban Lahkar, UKAA working president, Sharmila Deka, UKAA VP, Ramen Pal Das, RB Gurung and other representatives from different district association.

Competitions will be conducted in 60 different categories for Children (9-13 years), Youth (14-17 years) and U-21 years (18-20 years), in around 60 different categories.

The Assam team for the KAI Sub-Junior National Karate, to be held at New Delhi on April 12 and 13, will be picked from this championship. The last date of submission of players� list is 25 January, stated an UKAA release.
