GUWAHATI, March 7 - The TG Baruah Memorial 5th Youth and U-21 State Karate Championship, which was scheduled to be held on March 26 and 27 at the Deshbhakta Tarun Ram Phookan Indoor Stadium in the RG Baruah Sports Complex here, has been preponed and now will be held on March 25 and 26, stated a release issued by the United Karate-Do Association, Assam (UKAA) secretary Nagen Bongjang.
Competitions will be conducted in Kata and Kumite events for Sub-Junior (10-13 years), Cadet (14-15 years), Junior (16-17 years) and U-21 years (18-20 years). The State team will be selected for the upcoming KAI Sub-Junior, Cadet, Junior and U-21 National Karate Championship to be held from May 20 to 22 at New Delhi. All the district bodies have to submit their players� entry by March 20.
The executive meeting also confirmed the UKAA calendar for the year of 2016-17 and fixed the venue of the events.
July 2-3: 5th Lower Assam Zone Inter District Karate Championship at Barama, Baksa and 5th South Assam Zone Inter District Karate Championship at Morigaon.
July 9-10: 5th Upper Assam Zone Inter District Karate Championship at Jorhat and 5th North Assam Zone Inter District Karate Championship at Lakhimpur.
October 23-24: 10th Sub-Junior, Cadet and Junior Boys-Girls State Karate Championship at Bongaigaon
November 26-27: 10th Senior Men and Women State Karate Championship at Dibrugarh.
