Tezpur youth bags award in Boston

TEZPUR, Sept 5 - A youth from Bihaguri area near Tezpur town, who was studying in NIT Silchar (Mechanical Engineer), has bagged a �best overall simulation award� in commercial software category of Innovation Design Simulation Design (IDSC) recently, bringing laurels to the rural area.

The award ceremony was organised by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers� (ASME) in Boston, USA.

Saranga Bora, who did his matriculation and Class XII from Guwahati Don Bosco School with 9.8 CGPA and 93 per cent, respectively, under CBSE course, joined Silchar NIT in 2013. Currently, he is in the 5th semester and is the first Assamese youth from NIT Silchar to participate in such a prestigious competition.

It is worth mentioning that the international competition with the topic �Innovative Design Simulation Challenge� is designed to give mechanical engineering and multi-disciplinary undergraduate students around the world an opportunity to demonstrate their skills in developing and deploying simulations or simulation frameworks and environments.

Talking to this correspondent, his father Jatindra Kumar Nath (Bora), an ASEB employee in Guwahati, said that the success achieved by his son should be a source of inspiration for the students of the region.
