Tezpur University wins debate contest

JALUKBARI, March 12 - Lokabandhu Dr Bhubaneswar Barooah memorial all-Assam inter-college debating competition was held in the auditorium of the Govt Ayurvedic College here today. The topic of the debate was �There is no alternative to a regional political party for all-round regional development�.

Monami Bhuyan of the Assam Engineering College was adjudged as the best debater, Daniel Nawaz Mazumder of the Gauhati Medical College won the second prize, while the third prize was bagged by Rituparna Borpatra Gohain of the Govt Ayurvedic College.

The award for the best team went to Tezpur University, while Cotton College State University was adjudged as the second best.

Prof Dilip Kr Barua was the Speaker while Diganta Biswa Sarma, Dr Pranati Devi, Pranab Kr Nath and Dr Kavita Jain were the judges. Dr Anil Kr Sarma, Head of the Dept of Swasthavritta, was the time-keeper during the contest.

Principal of the Govt Ayurvedic College Dr Bhabesh Das, invited guest Dr Lakshmanan S, Director of AYUSH, Assam, and guest of honour Jatin Hazarika, retd IAS, Advisor to the Govt of Assam, spoke on the occasion.
