Tezpur University champions

GUWAHATI, March 16 � Tezpur Central University emerged victorious in the fourth NEFTi T-20 Cricket Tournament.

In the final played today at the NITS Mirza playground, Tezpur University defeated Assam Engineering College (AEC) by eight wicket.

Batting first, Assam Engineering College managed only 105 runs losing all the wickets in 19 overs. In reply, Tezpur University reached the target losing only two wickets.

Earlier, in the semifinals Assam Engineering College defeated RIST and Tezpur University defeated IST-Gauhati University to reach the final.

Chujang Lung Changmei of RIST got the best batsman trophy while Yasir Arafat of Tezpur University got the best bowler trophy. Tezpur captain Md Akib Ali Hazarika was adjudged Man-of-the-Match in the final. He also got the Man-of-the-Series award. Ten AICTE approved institutions namely � NITS Mirza, GIMT, Donbosco College of Engineering, Regional Institute of Science and Technology (RIST), GIMT � Tezpur, Assam Engineering College, Royal College of Engineering, Scholars Institute of Technology and Management, Tezpur University and IST-Gauhati participated in the tournament.

Social and political activist Prodyut Bora, Monoj Basumatary and general secretary, NEFTi Devajit Bhuyan gave away the prizes. The whole tournament was conducted under the technical supervision and guidance of Assam Cricket Association.
