TEZPUR, March 16 - Tezpur University has made another mark in the global arena by attaining position in the 131-140 rankings amongst the top 300 in the Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2017, which was announced on Wednesday.

According to the list, which includes higher education institutions from 24 Asian countries, India has doubled its representations, claiming 33 places in the list, up from 16 last year.

The Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore tops the list of institutions in India by securing the 27th position in the ranking. The other Indian universities, which have clinched positions, are: Venkatesh University, Jadavpur University and Punjab University. Delhi University has been placed in the same position along with Tezpur University in the ranking. It is worthwhile to mention here that IIT, Guwahati is placed in the 101-110 rank along with Jadavpur University.

The Asia University Rankings used 13 performance indicators which were earlier used to prepare the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, but this time it has been recalibrated to reflect the attributes of Asian universities. The universities were judged across all of their core missions teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook to provide the most comprehensive and balanced comparisons available.
