IMPHAL, Oct 9 - The 70th Territorial Army Day was observed at the 1st Battalion Manipur Rifles Banquet Hall today.
Manipur Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh and Deputy Chief Minister Y Joykumar Singh, MLAs, police, and Territorial Army officials and their families attended the function.
Attending the function, Chief Minister Biren Singh said that Territorial Army has been playing a major role in providing security to the people. �Despite various challenges, the personnel of the Territorial Army have been discharging their duties,� he claimed.
Congratulating the unit on becoming the first Territorial Army Unit to get the prestigious unit appreciation from the Eastern Army Commander, he said it has become an inseparable part of the security set-up in the State since its deployment in the State during 2007. In this context, he claimed that the State now has 13,000 registered micro industries. �The people of Manipur have now seen the developmental works. All these have been possible due to improved law-and-order situation, � he said.
