Terracotta artisan Dhiren Paul wins Gadadhar Award

GAURIPUR, May 16 - The Gauripur unit of the All Assam Students� Union (AASU) has conferred the prestigious Gadadhar Award 2019 on known terracotta artisan Dhiren Paul.

The award was presented during the Bohagi Samaroh held on May 14-15 at the Mahamaya playground.

The programme began with flag-hoisting by Shah Alom Sheikh, president of the Gauripur AASU unit, followed by swahid tarpan by Bishal Kanti Roy.

Various competitions like Bihu Maina, Bihu Pari and Bihu Konwari were held. A cultural evening organised on the first day was inaugurated by social activist BK Jain.

An art competition held on the second day was inaugurated by Gauripur Town Committee chairperson Jimli Dutta. The theme was Swachh Bharat Mission.

A Goalparia folk song competition, based on the songs sung of Padma Shri recipient Pratima Baruah Pandey was also held. A fashion show was also organised among children.
