JORHAT, Sept 11 - The Teok Tea Estate management has decided to lift the lockout, prevailing in the garden, from tomorrow by starting with two divisions of the estate.
Jorhat Deputy Commissioner Roshni A Korati told The Assam Tribune this evening that in a meeting chaired by her today, which was attended by the garden management officials, representatives of the worker unions and Labour Department officials, the decision to withdraw the lockout in a phased manner was taken by the garden management.
Korati said that the management has decided to withdraw the lockout tomorrow in two divisions � Khanikar and Dalimi.
On September 13 the management will be lifting the lockout in Namsisu division and on September 14 in Teok and Jagduwar divisions, the Deputy Commissioner said.
She added that the decision to withdraw lockout comes after several rounds of tripartite talks between the garden management and worker unions were held under the aegis of the district administration after the estate management declared lockout from September 1 following the lynching of the garden doctor (Dr Deben Dutta) by a mob on August 31.
Meanwhile, the one-man Commission appointed by the State Government to probe the incident, will tomorrow (September 12) hold public hearing at the Teok Revenue Circle office from 1 pm to 5 pm, a note issued by the Jorhat district administration stated.
Any person, organisation, having any information or evidence regarding the incident could appear before the State Finance Department Commissioner and Secretary Shyam Jagannathan and submit the same, the one-man Commission probing the incident , the note said.
