KOKRAJHAR, Sept 2 � Tension prevails in and around Kokrajhar district following the killing of one Monser Ali (27) by youths belonging to a particular community of Choutara village in Kokrajhar district yesterday evening, police sources said. According to sources, Monser Ali of Mahamaya village of Kokrajhar district came to the house of one Bisaka Barman at Choutara and some youths assaulted him under suspicion of illicit relation. As a result, Ali succumbed to his injuries.
Meanwhile, in retaliation of yesterday�s incident, today some aggrieved people burnt down some houses of Choutara area. Senior civil and police officials of Kokrajhar district rushed to the spot to takes stock of the situation. Security measures have also been beefed up in the district.
