MIRZA, March 20 - Tension was high at the Britannia Industries Ltd plant at Rampur near here over the alleged physical assault on two of its employees � Bitu Kumar Das and Sasanka Sarma � by two miscreants around noon on Thursday.
Hundreds of employees gheraoed the plant demanding arrest of the two miscreants involved in the assault. Work at the plant was affected for the whole day on Thursday due to the protest by the employees, who said they feared for their lives in the days ahead.
Bowing to pressure from the employees, a case was lodged with the Bijoynagar Police Outpost (under Palasbari Police Station) by the management, demanding arrest of the miscreants. Police investigation is on, but no arrest has been made till the filing of this report.
