BISWANATH CHARIALI, June 7 � Tension prevailed at Baghmari TE under Biswanath subdivision in Sonitpur district this morning following the suicide of an employee of the tea garden.
According to sources, Sunil Gudia (43) committed suicide last night in his quarter as he was named in a case of siphoning of Provident Fund money of the labourers of the tea garden amounting to around Rs 93 lakh.
A suicide note was found on him in which he had stated that two other employees � Bharat Bhuyan and Dr Ramesh Chandra � were the real culprits and that he was innocent. Following the recovery of the suicide note, thousands of labourers got agitated, who then beat up Bharat Bhuyan at the office. They also burnt down a motorcycle.
Higher civil and police officials rushed to the spot and managed to pacify the mob.
The seriously injured Bhuyan later succumbed to his injuries at the Catholic Hospital, Kettela.
