ITANAGAR, March 20 - Itanagar Police has arrested 10 persons involved in cases of mobile snatching, burglary and extortion from shopkeepers of Akashdeep Complex and Gohpur area in Itanagar.
They also recovered 10 mobile handsets, two fire arms, 7.62 caliber live ammunition and other stolen articles worth Rs 1.50 lakh from their possession.
In view of complaints of extortion from shopkeepers, mobile snatching and burglary at Itanagar police station recently, a team of police officers was constituted. The team after investigation managed to trace the offenders in five such cases and busted the gang.
SP Capital Devender Arya informed that a ransom case, wherein a prominent shopkeeper of Akashdeep complex was asked to pay Rs 1 lakh besides being sent ammunition in a parcel, was solved within a day with the arrest of the accused and recovery of two fire arms and ammunition from his possession.
In a mobile snatching case wherein two boys snatched a mobile handset of a bank official, both accused were arrested and the mobile recovered within a week. A burglary case, where unknown persons had stolen five mobile handsets along with other articles from a under-construction building, has also been solved with arrest of two accused and recovery of the stolen articles.
In an extortion case, where four persons forcefully entered into the complainant�s shop at Gohpur area and took away hard cash and grocery items, has been solved and four accused arrested so far.
In another burglary case, unknown persons entered the house of a senior govt officer and took away mobile handsets. The case has been solved with the arrest of one accused and recovery of three mobiles.
