Temp across Assam soars

GUWAHATI, Aug 26 - August temperatures soared higher than normal again since Tuesday and the sweltering heat made life uncomfortable across the State.

On Wednesday, the mercury touched 36 degree Celsius in Guwahati, which is 3.8 degree higher than normal. Similarly, temperatures in other towns of the State were also high � Dibrugarh 36.5 degree Celsius (departure 4.5), North Lakhimpur 38.2 degree Celsius (departure 6.2) and Tezpur 35.7 degree Celsius (departure 3.5).

On Tuesday, Guwahati had recorded 36.8 degree Celsius, which is 4.5 degree higher than the long period average (LPA). Dibrugarh had recorded 37.9 degree Celsius (departure 5.9), Silchar 37.3 degree Celsius (departure 5.5) and Tezpur 35.7 degree Celsius (departure 3.5). Humidity too was high at over 70-75 per cent in most places.

According to a forecast issued at 8 am on Wednesday, there could be spells of rains at isolated places in the State, but temperatures may remain over 35 degrees in the next two days.
