NEW DELHI, March 19 � BJP MP from Assam Rameswar Teli today demanded reopening of the historic Stilwell Road, arguing that the move would open a new window to the South East Asia.
Moving a Zero Hour Notice in the Lok Sabha, Teli, who spoke in Assamese, said that the Stilwell Road connects Ledo in Tinsukia district with Kunming in China. Beijing has already constructed a four-lane highway, while the condition of the road on the Indian side is in a fairly good condition. However, the Myanmar portion of the road is in a dilapidated condition, he said.
